Vertex OCZSSD2-1VTX30G 30 GB SATA II Hard Drive - BEST!
This is by far the best SSD available today - in both price and performance - for those wishing to seriously upgrade a laptop or netbook! I have configured several of these on ASUS EeePC 1000HE netbooks with superb results. The premium performance is only seen with Windows 7. With the lastest firmware installed, using "trim" is a snap. If you are still on XP you will need to manually run the "trim" and is a quick download from OCZ. All in all, this SSD IS everything it is touted as being and I heartily give it a full "10"!This is by far the best SSD available today - in both price and performance - for those wishing to seriously upgrade a laptop or netbook! I wanted to give this an excellent rating for performance out of the box. However if you want to use this drive do not count on being able to keep it up to date firmware wise or easily knowing how it should be used for your particular system and what works or doesn't work. OCZ support is next to nil and relies on a forum which will lead you and your system down a road of doom and you will most likely end up destroying your drive and using it as a paper weight unless you decide to be at the mercy of OCZ RMAs. Don't take my word for it, just go to OCZ support and let it take you to the forum and see the history of bricked drives over the past month. On the other hand if you have a month of free time you will eventually be successful at making this thing work great for your particular ... The second best thing that ever happened to your PC
I have spent a lot of time trying to get better day-to-day performance out of both work and home PCs. There are a few software tweaks that will boost performance quite well, and giving your PC a good amount of RAM works wonders in bringing seemingly old/tired PCs back to life. The biggest bottleneck after that (in my opinion) is not the CPU but the disk subsystem. I have tried many things, but nothing even comes close to the performance boost your system will experience with a properly configured SSD drive. I have purchased 2 OCZ 30GB units already and they are both working perfectly.I have spent a lot of time trying to get better day-to-day performance out of both work and home PCs.
