The previous edition of this book established itself as the most complete and understandable treatment of the SQL standard generally available. Many changes have occurred in the SQL standard world since that edition was published. The original 1992 standard itself has been significantly changed and corrected through the publication of two extensive Technical Corrigenda, one in 1994 and one in 1996. Included in the fourth edition of this important book is information on a major new component, the Call-Level Interface (SQL/CLI), and the Persistent Stored Modules feature (SQL/PSM)., franca database management; it provides the basis for systems interoperability, application portability, client/server operation, distributed database, and more, and is supported by just about every DBMS on the market today. SQL2 - or, to give it its official name, the International Standard Database language SQL (1992) - represents a major set of extensions to the earlier SQL standard.     The must-have book for Standard SQL

    If you are looking for a book for Standard SQL, this is the book! C.J. Date writes very well. He was the one from whom I learned database design at NYU back in the days.
