It's a multi-functional controller that monitors the integrity of motors and maintains motor operational efficiency. The White Rodgers unit has a well-engineered design that helps to facilitate easy installation in a furnace and other HVAC units. Technicians will be pleased by the reliable heat and air controls enabled by the Universal Integrated Ignition Fan Control. The White-Rodgers control unit measures 8 by 5 by 2.5 inches and weighs 12.8 ounces. Its frame is constructed of plastic, which makes the unit both lightweight and durable. It is designed for a furnace with a silicon carbide ignitor as well as other HVAC systems. The board utilizes a microprocessor that acts as a central controller. The White-Rodgers modules can operate various brands of furnace, ventilation, air conditioning, and humidifier units via provided terminals.     Replacement for 50A50-571 for Trane applications

    I have two Trane XE1200 air conditioning units circa 1998 installed originally with the 50A50-571 control boards. One of the control boards became defective during 2008 winter and furnace would not start on call for heat. The second one went bad after few years this 2019 spring when call for cooling did not fire up the circulator fan. I found this one was replacement for the discontinued board. It is smaller size than the original board and connectors have been moved around. The manufacturer has provided few jumper cables to extend original wiring in case they are out of reach due to change in position. I had to use these cables as the original would not reach the new positions. For Trane application, one has to also use the supplied jumper cable to connect the terminals for the roll out ...

    Critical item for your comfort, easy to replace.

    This Furnace control unit was used on many older a/c-furnaces and based on my experience, they last around 10 years, so the cost per year is pretty reasonable. This is my third one (been here since 1992) and while it 's annoying to have your furnace or a/c go out (just when you need it) knowing it's a weak spot and can be fixed easily makes me feel a little better. As for a DIY project, it's a good idea to take photos of the wire placements so if you lose track during the replacement, you can go back to the photo.

    Heating problem solved, easy installed

    Replaced my white rodgers 50A50-241 with 50A55-843 with no problems it was exact wire plugs. Had to drill four new holes for new Module but that was it. My old module would make my blower run by itself with everything on the off position and heater will run only for a short time then cut off and blower would continue on had to turn off at the breaker. Very satisfied with product would recomend.

    Quick Fix

    My control board led wasn’t blinking even though it had power. I bought this and installed it by moving one wire at a time. When I was done, I turned on the power and the furnace lit instantly. This was an exact match and the job couldn’t have been easier. Highly recommended.

    Replace it with the Universal Control Module

    Instruction is easy to follow for installation and setting up the dip switch. You need to mount the module to a difference location if you are not going to use the jumper leads that come with it. Ran fine (I'm in HVAC field for a living).
