Not another Absolutes but I can still Speakeasy
This cd may not be quite as good as Absolutes before it but it does have a nicer flow between songs and is more coherent in over all focus. It is spiritually thematic and deals with human nature. This is a heavy band that has gotten away from its hardcore roots, which is ok. Mark's vocals continue to improve. No one pounds the bass like Dirk and Sam West continues to simply be great setting the tone on drums. The only obscurity at this point is the revolving door at lead guitar. While a killer band live, this instrument continues to be a bit of an enigma in attitude only. Minuteman is an instant classic. The following songs display the sheer talent and creativity of this hard rockin band. There is even an XTC cover and a couple of ballads. Stavesacre display talent and emotion ... another great STAVE recording, a must have....
You will NEVER go wrong to purchase a STAVESACRE recording, NEVER. To my knowledge, and in my humble opinion, they have never recorded a weak song! The talent among these young musicians is VERY impressive. The music style is really one of its own, but similar to bands like the FOO FIGHTERS, QUICKSAND, PROJECT 86 and even hints of TOOL.You might label their music as "emo/hardcore" but, not really!?!?! The one thing that really sticks out to me about STAVE is The passion in their song writing and in Marks vocaling. Hes not afraid to call Things as they are, to "address the issues"...as a man seeking integrity and real "truth", he shares himself openly for anyone who would listen. my opinion of the music
I like this music because I was big into punk rock and a rock kinda sound before I got saved. Now that I hear Stavesacre, I hear the old voice of Glenn Danzig from The Misfits. haha. I really enjoy Stavesacre's sound and singing it's really catchy and melodic. PLUS! The scriptures of the Bible are tied into the words! I love it when artist use the Word of God to sing in their songs. I would strongly recommend this band. Especially if you come from a background of music taste similar to mine.
