If you're looking for an Adaptec 4300 PCI Firewire card, be careful what you buy. If anything, you're far better off buying a used card than a new one. The reason is that the card inside boxes sold as new may very not match what is described on the box label or shown in the picture on the box. This matters because, for some users, the card revision is very import (A, B or C); boxes with a picture of a red PCB on the front almost always have Rev B on the box label, but in reality the card inside might be a Rev A or C (green PCB) which does not work with some systems. Thus, at least if it's a used card you have the chance to examine the PCB beforehand, be certain which revision it is. Assuming you buy the right version for your system then it should work ok. I've given this model a low rating mainly because Adaptec did not maintain product compatibility and their poor packing standards.Read full review
