Für die außerordentliche Bildqualität kommen sowohl SLD-Glas als auch asphärische Linsenelementen zum Einsatz. Die mit HSM ausgestatteten Modelle (außer Sony und Pentax) bieten den schnellen, lautlosen Autofokus, in den Sie jederzeit manuell eingreifen können. Dank der Innenfokussierung bleibt die Baulänge des Objektivs während des Fokussierens konstant und die Frontlinse rotiert nicht, was Ihnen den bequemen Einsatz eines Polfilters und einer tulpenförmigen Gegenlichtblende erlaubt.
