This game is very hard to explain because it's a mix of FPS(first person shooter),Flight Simulator, and RPG(role playing game).I'll do my best to explain the game to you. As you fly around, you shoot fireballs at different types of baddies(Giant Worms,Crows). After defeating enemines you must collect the mana it drops. After collecting so much mana you have to build a Castle to hold your mana in(?).Get some more mana and your Castle will make a Hot Air Balloon to go and collect the mana, but you must protect the Balloon from enemies while it collects for you.You do this till your castle is big enough. Sounds strange right?Well it is!But,it sucks you in after a the first few minutes. Each level is hugh(even today)and if you find the Urns scattered about you get access to more spells than the 3 you start with. Now for the bad.The controls take some time to get used to(especially if you don't have a manual to look at). After collecting some of the Urns in the game to unlock new spells,it gets hard to find the Heal Spell in the heat of battle. The turning is very, very touch.Sometimes it's hard to just stay in one place. And there really isn't any music to speak of(but the sound effects sound very good). And the graphics look very dated. This is a game you will ether fall head-over heels for or you just won't like it.I recommend you give it a try to be the judge for youself.Read full review
Even though the consoles in those days couldn't handle arcade version ports, I think the sega cd has more frames. An arranged soundtrack, and I think close to the arcade version (in a way) I think that was the best version to me.
