Kenny G Master of Elevator sax
I bought this record in 1983 and at that time thought it was something new and fresh. The relaxing mood it created was uncommon at that time and the wave of smooth jazz hadn't happened yet back in 83' Kenny G found a formula that works for the general listing public. His playing is safe and repetitious and doesn't lend itself to exploration or risk. Certainly not anything close resembling that which you'd find in the mainstream of jazz saxophonists. One of the pioneers of smooth jazz, Kenny actually started his career playing behind Barry White and soloing with Jeff Lorber. He quickly figured out how to become a household name in the recording business by writing hook melody lines and playing them perfectly on soprano sax, an ax uncommonly choosen as a melody instrument in the early ... One of the first albums compiled by this artist. Wonderful to listen to, very smooth and mellow. Purchased for background music for a Grand Opening/ Open House for a Spa.

not what i expected
its a good cd. it isnt exactly what i expected but its nice. i expected for there to be nothing but smooth jazz however there were several songs that had singing making the record sound more like an R&B album, which is nice..just not what i was hoping for
