After raising the issue with the seller they agreed to send me out my initial order and told me to keep the item I had already received! It needed a razor blade to open the pack, at some personal risk. It had to be re-formatted exFAT instead of FAT32 for my mp3/mp4 player to recognise it. I shall probably never need to read it faster than about 300-400 kBytes/s so I don't know how fast it is, but it is fine for my use.

It seems that nowadays sellers are inclined to issue "tracking number provided" almost instantly. Then nothing for days and days. Presumably this doesn't relate to dispatch. It just doesn't make sense when the item received is using the Royal Mail 48hr Tracked service. Perhaps a one of delay in this instance but becoming more common with other sellers too.
