HO Roundhouse 7841 old-time commemorative box car.
This kit is for a model of a 36-foot box car painted and decorated to honor America's great railroad heritage. The kit is more or less typical of the late and much-lamented Roundhouse kits by MDC in Carson City Nevada, USA. It consists of a heavy metal frame/floor, painted body shell, and several detail parts such as truss rods and brake cylinder. The floor should be painted (usually flat black to make a better-looking car. The floor unit will need some filing, drilling, and finishing before painting, but this is part of the fun of these kits. I finished building my car a few days ago, and I am very pleased with it. It complements the other Roundhouse kits in this long-running series, and in particular it's patriotic scheme goes perfectly with other Roundhouse cars with a patriotic ... I'm sorry these cars are no longer being made, although Accurail, another fine American company, is planning to introduce its own line of 36' cars in a few months. They should be beautiful.
