Quality you can hear
Handmade, quality, that makes a difference in your sound. Very sensitive, yet has a character that allows your drums tone to really come through and speak on its own. The non coated will "dry" out the snare response a bit, meaning although it is responsive, they won't buzz in any annoying or abrasive frequencies. They speak and get out of the way, and are intricate for ghost notes and buzz rolls. If you want a brighter attack/snap try the coated version. This is the second drum that I used these wires on, I'm a fan!
Currently I own about forty snare drums from Gretsch USA, DW, Ludwig, Rogers, Craviotto, Dunnett, and Slingerland. Not too long ago I needed a set of wires for one of my Radio Kings, I tried the Canopus Vintage Dry snare wires that are made specifically for that drum. I liked them a lot. I played the drum with those wires next to another Radio King and it was a huge difference. Which brings me to this purchase. I needed a set of replacement wires for a 2009 Ludwig Black Beauty snare drum. I decided to buy a set of Canopus Vintage Dry wires and see if I got the same result I did. I think that it has to do with the very thin end plates. These wires make the drum much more sensitive.
