    Not designed for gaming.

    I normally use the Hyper 212 Evo with gaming computer builds; however, with my newest build, the case I decided to use wasn't big enough to fit the 212 Evo. So, I decided to give this heatsink a try. Playing a game that has a Pentium 4 2.4GHz as the recommended CPU, the processor was reaching temps of 92C+. I did not have the processor over clocked at all. The processor I was using is the i7-7700K. I removed the heatsink, cleaned everything off, and reapplied the heatsink. Same temperatures. I ordered a 212 Evo and the processor stays under 80C under full load. This heatsink did keep my CPU at comparable idle temperatures, but when the processor starts working, this heatsink can't step up and cool it down well enough.

    big but quiet

    This is a good alternative to the 212 If it's too big for your case. Keep in mind the mass of the fan. I had to purchase low profile ram to clear the low profile design on my micro atx.. I would avoid using this with an itx board because it will either block a ram or pci express slot depending on design of the board.
