It's a fine sonic game from 2006. It's not perfect but it has its charm. Sega tried to make something new with the Sonic franchise as that year was his 15th anniversary. Sonic was reaching new boundaries with 06 and it's compelling game play made the experience all worth the money spent. "Ahh" I sure do miss the simple days of playing Sonic 06... My life was never the same.

Most every other Sonic gamer I know thinks that this game is a large pile of crud. I disagree. The graphics are okay, and other than a few avoidable glitches and the long loading screens, the game play is actually pretty decent. Sure, the story is terrible and yes, I would still say that this is one of the worst Sonic games ever made; but if you can find this game for cheap, I think it's worth the money. It's still a Sonic game that, if you can ignore the issues I just stated, will give you an enjoyable time.

Sonic the Hedgehog has always been a classic game for the sega system. With this release of Sonic for the PS3 all the great action is still there, but it has quite a bit of flaws. The Good: The game play and graphics are pretty good. Lots of playable characters (once you earn them). The game is as fast paced, if not faster than previous titles released and is great fun to play. Levels are somewhat challenging and also features a two player co-op type mode. The Bad: Some people will find that this major flaw in the game will either make or break it. The main issue I have is that the camera view is not a locked view, so you are constantly fumbling to hit the L1 button or rotating the right joystick to center your characters view. The thing is that the game is so fast paced, but the camera revolves so sluggishly. Trying to play this game and adjust camera view with the joystick turned it into a stomach churning episode of the Blair Witch Project. I had to put the controller down and take a break while playing this game because of the camera view. Conclusion: This is a great game for strictly gameplay, the whole viewing system is another story and earns no thumbs up from me. I would definitely have anyone interested in this game go RENT it first. It truly isn't worth the $60 they ask for it. I can justify spending $30 or $40 for this, but for $60 a copy they should've just locked the camera view instead of a free view system. I give this an Average score for an average game.Read full review
likes: nice looking cut sequences. great animation. comparable to sonic and the secret rings on the nintendo wii but much easier to play with the sixasis controller. again the game is guided in terms of the direction and sometimes when playing with the likes of tail's it can be a challenge but worth it once mastered :) dislikes: when theres a number of bad guys on screen my ps3 80 gig american version screen lags a little although catches up a second or so later. although some might say gameplay is ok, i like it as easy as can be if not a little challenging if that makes sense. therefore on the initial levels when your running around trying to figure out what to do, sega could have made better use of the navigation map by putting some sort of directional arrow. however thats just me saying that. why buy it?: 1) it was a bargain as it was on ebay 2) ever since sonic on the sega master system i've been hooked 3) it does the ps3 justice in terms of graphics and gameplay even on a rear projection crt monitor! 4) a must buy for your collection, be the envy of all your friends :)Read full review
At first, I would say that this was a bad game, but the more I played it; the more I started to like it. This wasn't really a bad game that everyone makes it out to be. This game has some bugs, but still not enough to dislike it. Pros The graphics are good, but I like the ones from Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed better. It still looks good. It has a really good story line. The characters look great and voices of the characters sound pretty good. I like the idea of having a fresh new vilain. Not just a vilain, but a real dark, mysterious villain. To have a good game, you must have good gameplay and a well thought-out story line. I love the music and soundtracks to this game. This game is a lot more challenging than most Sonic the Hedgehog games due to the glitches and lack of save points. Cons I would have given this game a 5 Star rating if it wasn't for the glitches, load pages, and lack of save points. I want to stress the most about the save points, because you will lose your temper when lost your last life and you have to do 4 or 5 missions all over again. Now sometimes it will save after every mission, but all. Another thing that will drive you nuts is the load pages. For example, if you are talking with the average citizen of Soleanna, then you would talk, loading for 20 seconds, more talking for 5 seconds, Loading for another 20 seconds, and then you finally do your mission. Over all it is a pretty good game. My advice to anyone going to play this game is to play Sonic Generations first to get you prepared for this game. Yes, this game came first before Sonic Generations, but it is easier to play due to the gameplay. I would recommend this game to my friends if they are a true Sonic the Hedgehog fan.Read full review
