Juvenile Hard Rock
Even though this CD is rated "Explicit," the level of the lyrics is juvenile. The instrumentation is above average, but many of the songs are very immature in lyrics and meaning. In addition to "Broken," there are only a few songs that are significant. The singer's voice is very good and far excels the level of the lyrics. This is grunge/ post grunge rock. I would advise buying Disclaimer II so that you can get the version of "Broken" with Amy Lee of Evanescence singing as well as the DVD. Also, if you are new to hard rock, buy "Karma & Effect" by Seether before this album.Even though this CD is rated "Explicit," the level of the lyrics is juvenile. Classic CD's are Still the Best Way to Hear Good Music
Since we live in an age where the digital medium is the norm, many people do not understand that the quality of music is deminishing. CD's are the best way to get the very best out of old titles that have been either downsampled or otherwise restricted (bit rates and sample rates) to conform to an MP3 or other format that is the norm for audio streaming. Hires audio is now available for some older titles but are simple "upsampled" from the original CD source. I love groups like Chevelle, Three Days Grace, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Korn, etc..., but I have been totally blown away by Seether.

This is not one of Seether's best albums, in fact, it could be improved on a lot. For me, it is interesting to listen to the growth of the musicians and what they write. This is not yet transitional to what the group has become since this was recorded. Sreeching is okay, if it is relevant to what the artist is getting across. The last number on the cd is done with accoustic guitar, though, and really shows Shawn's talent - maybe a fore-runner to the future success of the band.This is not one of Seether's best albums, in fact, it could be improved on a lot.
