I've been a fan of the Metro games since the previous generation. I've played through each game on three separate occasions. Yes they were flawed but they were also imbued with an atmosphere that created one of the most compelling series of games in the post apocalyptic survival shooter genre. Enter Metro Exodus, an evolution of the previous games without, as has happened in so many cases, losing the indefatigable spark that makes for a Metro Game. New crafting and open world mechanics introduced by 4A Games add another layer. The crafting, in particular on the fly backpack crafting, can lead to heightened tension within mission sandbox areas. Depleted med kits, surrounded by those that would do you harm, running out of ammo, waining health, building pressure.....need to craft but where's safe. Its everything that a good survival shooter should be. The beautifully written story and the atmosphere of an irradiated and decimated world presented by the developers are everything a GREAT survival shooter should be. They get the tone of a post apocalyptic environment just so right. This tone being transported higher by the efforts that have been made to immerse the player within the game. For example there are no shining objects or unusual floating arrows pointing the way, holding the hand of the gamer guiding them like a digital sat nav. No mini map, no marker icons screaming at you to go here or there on your journey. This is an superb game the pinnacle of one of the most powerfully interesting series of games not only within the genre but in any genre on the current generation of console.Read full review

Travel through post-apocalyptic Russia on a steam train, see nice landscapes, take extended smoke breaks and listen to long conversations about nothing in particular. Collect weapon mods (seriously, disassemble every gun you find, just do it), craft supplies, fight mutants and progressively weirder cults. Get attached to your wholesome and good-hearted crew who continually treat you with respect and ask for your opinion even though you can't speak except in narration. Also your wife gets Arthur Morgan's cough and for some reason no-one notices until the third act. It's a good time, and the best game of the series, would recommend.

Great immersive game. Tells the story and sets the mood perfectly, keeps you on the edge of your seat especially with the lack of ammunition you question all of your actions. Not for the trigger happy but great for an adventure

Really good immersive game. Great follow on from metro redux. Would also work well for new players to the storyline.
