  • Cheap and easy but works

I have not finished testing some used Micro Talk radios for distance but compared to the smaller Motorola units I had, they are much easier to use for people with hands bigger than a toddler. The battery compartment opens easily without having to mutilate the plastic with a screw driver to change batteries as well, but I digress. There are no bells and whistles like NOAA or GMRS channels but it does have a plug for a mic/headphone, something my other radios lacked in spite of their extra features. These are good for handing out to people for camping, hunting and skirmishing due to their simple and easy to operate layout. Pros: Not too small and toy-like. Earbud/Mic jack Uses regular batteries. Seems to hold a charge fairly well. Clarity is better than a Handheld CB at higher wattage Cons: The rubber cover for the input jack is missing a lot on used models The symbols on the rubber buttons wear off. The belt clips are usually missing and hard to find. Lack of features. Overall, these are great for kids and for handing out to people who do not prepare for backup communication during emergencies. They can communicate with a Baofeng and other more advanced radios at close ranges without transmitting too far which is helpful if you don't want bad people listening in your conversations in certain scenarios. I would give them 5 stars if they had GMRS or NOAA features as well, but if you can get one for around $10 with the belt clip, it's worth every penny.

  • Belt clips break easily, need better quality to keep units from hitting floor and breaking apart.

    OK!

  • Battery Issue

One of these used units must have a short as the 4 batteries drain to dead in less than 2 days when the unit is clearly turned off...not on standby.

  • Not like my old ones-not rechargeable

Did not have the rechargeable backs for battery covers so I had to use my old ones and tape.
