Synopsis
Going Rogue is the #1 New York Times bestselling memoir from Sarah Palin, one of America's most beloved and controversial political figures. Now with new material, Going Rogue offers plain talk from a true American original about her life, her career, and the future of the country she loves., On September 3, 2008 Alaska Governor Sarah Palin gave a speech at the Republican National Convention that electrified the nation and instantly made her one of the most recognizable women in the world. As chief executive of Americas largest state, she had built a record as a reformer who cast aside politics-as-usual and pushed through changes other politicians only talked about: Energy independence. Ethics reform. And the biggest private sector infrastructure project in U.S. history. While revitalizing public school funding and ensuring the state met its responsibilities to seniors and Alaska Native populations, Palin also beat the political "good ol boys club" at their own game and brought Big Oil to heel. Like her GOP running mate, John McCain, Palin wasnt a packaged and over-produced "candidate." She was a Main Street American woman: a working mom, wife of a blue collar union man, and mother of five children, the eldest of whom was serving his country in a yearlong deployment in Iraq and the youngest, an infant with special needs. Palins hometown story touched a populist nerve, rallying hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans to the GOP ticket. But as the campaign unfolded, Palin became a lightning rod for both praise and criticism. Supporters called her "refreshing," "honest," a kitchen-table public servant they felt would fight for their interests. Opponents derided her as a wide-eyed Pollyanna unprepared for national leadership. But none of them knew the real Sarah Palin. In this eagerly anticipated memoir, Palin paints an intimate portrait of growing up in the wilds of Alaska; meeting her lifelong love; her decision to enter politics; the importance of faith and family; and the unique joys and trials of life as a high-profile working mother. She also opens up for the first time about the 2008 presidential race, providing a rare, moms-eye view of high-stakes national politics - from patriots dedicated to "Country First" to slick politicos bent on winning at any cost. Going Rogue traces one ordinary citizens extraordinary journey, and imparts Palins vision of a way forward for America and her unfailing hope in the greatest nation on earth., From her humble beginnings to her time in the spotlight as the first female Republican Vice President candidate, Sarah Palin has led an extraordinary life. Going Rogue will recount her political experiences, her time as Mayor of Wasilla and as the first female governor of Alaska, as well as her rapid rise on the national stage during the 2008 campaign. Additionally, she'll share insights into the personal challenges she's faced including balancing her time as a working mother, recognizing the war's impact with hher son serving combat in Iraq, having a child with a disability and supporting her teenage daughter with an unplanned pregnancy.

  • Palin's Other Side of the Mirror - Book Review

Seldom has the normally boring genre of Biography seemed to ignite a firestorm on both sides of the Liberal and Conservative fence. On Nov. 17th the much anticipated Sarah Palin's autobiography (penned with help) was released. It's almost impossible to conceive that all of the Palin news has occured within the short space of one year. Palin was demonized continually by those who saw her as a female Dan Quayle. This book largely was written to do two things: - help pay for her $2 million lawyer fees from having to defend 15 seperate gubernatorial violations, all of which, quietly, have vindicated her. She explains in the book that she doesn't feel too guilty about leaving her governor's position since she was forced, in her personal life, to have to defend herself from frivalous lawsuits. ...

  • Increased my creativity and a great outlet for political frustrations!

I bought the book to make a book 'character' doll from found objects. I also found eBay helpful in my purchase of a small Sarah gun to either shoot bears with or simply be tacked between the pages of the book art doll. To create a Sarah skirt, simply fold down the page from top to half way down page by individual page. Unfolded part of page eventually creates a skirt rim or edge. Additionally eBay offered a nodder doll of Sarah with head simply removed with wire cutters . Art doll is then finished off with the insertion of a dowel rod down the book spine and the head glued on the top of the dowel. Voila! Great to take to yor book club or create conversation with others. Do ignore content of the book itself for those discussions, however. Just a cautionary note to 'readers'.

  • Fitting

    1. Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governor's office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republican's "Corrupt Bastards Club" (CBC) and sent them packing. Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing, "la la la la" (well, you know how they are). 2. Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here. So she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called "ACES." Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them, "don't let the door hit you in the stern on your way out." ...

  • Go Sarah! GO!

This is the first political biography that I have ever read that I actually ENJOYED. Sarah Palin talks a little about her childhood, and teenage years, but focuses more on the later years. What is so amazing is how she has worked all of her life. The reason it took her 5 years to finish college is that she paid her way. There were times when she had to wait out a semester so she could work to save money for another semester. That is so much like my family. I am wanting to go to college, but I am not expecting someone ELSE to pay my bill. If I am going to go through college, I am going to be paying for my education! I just got my book today, and already I have read to page 104. I can't wait to finish this book! Sarah Palin is a great example of the AVERAGE American. Tired of BIG government, ...

  • SARAH PALIN Going Rogue An American Life

The unprecedented army of attorneys and investigators sent to Alaska to find dirt on Governor Palin when she was announced as a Vice Presidential candidate, the unbelievable negative attacks by the news media against her and her pregnant daughter, continuing news attacks after the election and even the platoon of investigators to review her book and attempt to disprove its content that all proved fruitless, that heve never been done to another author, all have verified the books veracity and made me buy it to find out more of this woman. I found the book to be refreshing, heartwarming and an inspiration for all that love the American way of life. Sarah Palin's life from childhood typifies the independent laboring family up bringing and competitive efforts that demonstrate true character ...
