After attaching it to the controller and valve wire, and turning on the zone needed, the LED light came on and you could see a rapid soft pulse indicating the valve was opening/closing. Using it first on a known valve location is useful so you know what sound to listen for. It took me only about 5 minutes to find both missing valves. One of my sprinkler zone valves is suspect slightly leaking by and short cycling the pump. Once I hooked it up I went out in the yard and within 5 minutes found the buried valve. It’s worth every penny…paid for itself on day one. Not only didn’t have to call a pro, but just the satisfaction of doing it myself. Thanks for this great product👍

I pump out of my own water source so, disconnecting the P/MV (Pump, Main Valve) wire was a must to keep the pump from running and only powering the solenoids. I did use a 5 foot 2 inch piece of PVC pipe I had to put up to my ear to search around with per the tip section. Definitely start with a known valve - if you have one - to know the sound you're searching for.

The final valve was harder to find as it was further away and buried under layers of grass.
