    Fiskars, what do you expect?

    Awesome little camp axe. While I haven't used it a lot I did test it out. 3 to 4 Brazilian pepper trees were no match for this Fiskars chopping machine. About as many chops per inch of (live) tree. I bought this for camping and it is far to got to camp here. It will definitely get used this fall and winter. It comes very sharp right out of the box. I have nothing bad to say about this camp axe.

    Lightweight -- NOT like x7

    This hatchet is not just a black-handled version of the X7, as some sellers state. It is a much lighter weight hatchet. It may be what you want for light jobs, but it is definitely a lighter-duty tool. It seems pretty well constructed, but compared to the X7, the company clearly had different applications in mind, and even the packaging cuts corners (stickers only, no card). It should work for what I want -- chopping small growth in the yard -- but it doesn't seem to be a heavy enough tool to rely on for serious chopping jobs.

    Too light, looks like it's big brother, but not the same.

    I just moved to the mountains and there are certain items must have. Axe are one of them. I already bought the Fiskars 23 inch and really like it, works great. So now I figured I would get the 14 inch, for kindling. The first dislike it's just too light. I know that's nice for hiking and such. But it just doesn't want to penetrate in to the wood very well and that's not real good. When I get a chance I may look at putting a new edge on it. I am far from being a expert. But for my money, stick with 23 inch. The price was good and free shipping.

    It not only dulls easily but it seems to me to be easily dented

    I had expected considerably more quality from Fiskars. The poorly forged head on this otherwise good looking, well-balanced hatchet deteriorated in less than 20 minutes of moderate use. I chopped some pine branches on a log block and was appalled to see that the blade actually had gouged and torn pieces out with such light work.

    bought this for my wife , i've had one for years . it stays sharp and is really durable . we use them on the trail and camping . can't beat it for the money , would buy again .
