My personal problem is getting the pads in the correct location the first time. Once the pads are correctly positioned this thing works wonders. My back pain has subsided significantly. This is not a one-time-shot. It must be used regularly for a period of time to make it a permanent fix. The immediate response is great! Recommend getting a set of rechargeable NiMh AAA (4) batteries. With a brand new set of batteries I could only tolerate a 5. Now that the batteries have been thru about 20 cycles I can easily tolerate an 8+. My wife has had knee problems for years and had to buy her a separate unit so I could use mine. Low price enables pain relief for muscle spasms
I have been using TENs for 40 years. So glad they are now available without prescription. This unit would be best used by people with "routine" muscle spasms not by back pain as a result of spinal cord infringement. Since a person would not necessarily know that for months since every reputable spine or neurosurgeon would have a patient go through a series of procedures that could alleviate the pain before ordering an MRI, using a TENs unit such as this could provide pain relief more quickly to allow the person to get on with their life. Problems with this model: 1) too large to fit into a pocket so it would enable mobility while in use (mobility is always better than lying down). 2) has only a 15 minute or less setting, then requires turning off and waiting to reset for more time. ... How it actually works for relieving pain after using, I don't really know. It may. It seems to work on the distraction of pain principle. If getting blood drawn from a nurse, you can distract the pain of the needle by pinching yourself elsewhere and that works. It does take my mind off of knee pain while using it. Regular Alkaline batteries last through more than 20 20 minute uses. Without gel of one kind or another is not advised. It will hurt as in sting. But with gel it works very well. No sting.
