About this product

Product Information

Returning for a fourth season of adventures in SMALLVILLE, the young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) once again attempts to balance his high school life with the superpowers he was equipped with at birth. The season begins with Lois Lane (Erica Durance) turning up in Smallville to investigate the death of her cousin. In a neat touch, Margot Kidder, who plays Lois in the Christopher Reeve-era SUPERMAN movies, makes an appearance in the first episode. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) has picked up a new boyfriend in Paris, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) has got his hands on a kryptonian crystal in Egypt, and Lionel (John Glover) sets a mutant on the trail of Chloe (Allison Mack) to determine whether she is dead or not. A wonderful counterpart to the adult adventures of SUPERMAN, SMALLVILLE continues to go from strength to strength.

    Catching up...

I only caught bits and pieces of Smallville when it was on the air, initially, and have been rounding up the seasons in sequence as I get a chance. I'm pleased to see that the series, as a whole, is as engaging and enjoyable as the bits of it that I caught had made it seem (hard to follow shows when your work schedule is primarily evenings...) I found their addition of Lois Lane as a character in the fourth season to be a good choice...she, like all the other characters, is well-written, with a balance of strength, vulnerability, flaws, and virtues that made her fun to watch. A pre-Supernatural Jensen Ackles also plays into the mix this season, adding a whole new level of wrinkles to an already complicated mix. There were, naturally, some misses among the hits for the season, a couple ...

  • Could be Better

This season of Smallville is in my opinion, the best one yet. Not only does the introduction of Lois Lane add a factor to the show that hasn't been explored before but for the first time the characters really click (especially due to the fact of Lionel's downgraded status (he was only in 10 episodes). Episodes like Spell while on the surface don't do much to the overall arc of the season, add a fun, fluffy element to the show that was missing in seasons 2 & 3. There is a fair share of mythology episodes in this season, but all of them are leading up to something bigger. For the first time the writers and producers are prepping Clark for college and his future life at the Daily Planet. It is really interesting watching Season 4 of Smallville and Season 1 of "Lois and Clark" at the same ...

  • Smallville Season 4

This is an excellent series. The acting is good. And of course the casting is superb with Tom Welling, Allison Mack, and Anette O'Toole. The DVD lets you see them intimately in wide screen with crisp details. I wish Clark would realize how much Chloe loves him and just take her away to his Fortress of Solitude in the arctic, and forget about that mercurial brunette Lana Lang. Let Lex have her! His stunningly beautiful mom, Martha Kent, should set him straight about what to expect from the lavish love of a young woman. And watch out for that most unusual character Mr. Mxyzptlk. I remember him from the comic books in the 1960s. And you will also find Krypto the dog, who was a super dog in print. And this is all family viewing. There is innuendo in this production that you might miss if you ...

  • Superman Lives...

As a child Superman was my hero. As an adult, Superman is my hero. Heros have this way of following us through life. It is not particularly the character that follows us, the cape, the flying, the speed... but rather it is the principles that they embody. Superman stood for what was right and true and good and I'd like to think that those who are superman fans have taken those qualities with them as they have grown up. I've read the comic books, I watched Superman in black and white with George Reeves growing up. I watched the movies with Christopher Reeves. I've watched the Adventures of Lois and Clark. I'm a Superman fan yet not a fanatic. Tom Welling and this series portray a tremendous version of the epic hero growing up as a teenager and his transformation as he discovers ...

  • Wonderful Season to Own!

This is a great season of Smallville! Must have for any fan! This year we have a couple new people joining the cast: Jensen Ackles (From TVs Dark Angel, Supernatural) plays Lana's new love interest and also Erica Durance who plays Lois Lane. Tom Welling (The Fog, Cheaper By The Dozen) returns once more as farm boy Clark Kent who is not like anyone else on this planet. The new season starts with a Clark Kent who doesn't remember anything and is almost like a zombie and only remembers himself as Kal-El. The first episode rules cause we finally get to see Clark fly! Which is so cool since the producers said in the first few seasons "No tights, No flights". Between Lana's new man, meeting Lois Lane, Lana's mysterious tattoo, Graduation, Prom, Witches, and ...
