About this product

Product Information

Fifteen-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is so resentful of her baby brother Toby that she hopes he will just disappear. Her dream becomes reality when goblins kidnap the boy--but Sarah unexpectedly finds herself horrified by the loss. So she sets forth to retrieve him, and finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime. To accomplish her task, she will somehow have to reach the center of the fantastical labyrinth where the wicked Goblin King (David Bowie, who performs two songs) has imprisoned the lad. But the task is easier said than done, for the maze is filled with strange creatures and mind-bending puzzles that confuse the girl. Directed by Jim Henson and penned by Monty Python's Terry Jones, LABYRINTH is a distinctive, beautifully designed dark fantasy for all ages.

    Classic, Whimsical, artistic

Labyrinth has been a favorite since the VCR days. Jim Henson's amazing characters have always dazzled me and David Bowie (r.i.p.) is one of my top 10 favorite artists. Put them together in this charming, entertaining movie and you have a fine story with fabulous imagery. My daughter watched this movie well over a hundred times in her childhood. She and her cousin continue to quote scenes and to name their pets after characters in Labyrinth. Ah, and the fact that Escher's art is featured in the movie is another added bonus for me. This movie is an Icon.

Bazaar imitation of other landmark children's fantasies

The Yellow Brick Road of Oz is replaced by a maze. And Alice, like Dorothy, has a replacement as well. You can't remake these classics hopeing that a bunch of muppets and a eccentric rock star can improve upon them. Too complicated to understand for kids. Is Bowie suppose to be the Wizard? It should be marketed to adults instead. I like Bowie, may he RIP, but he's out of place in children's stuff and so is the entire movie.

  • Labyrinth the Movie

Sarah is a 15-year-old who loves fantasy and make believe. She loses track of time, forgetting that she must babysit her infant half-brother, she runs home only to find her stepmother waiting for her angry. They argue and then her stepmother leaves with Sarah's father on a date, while Sarah remains behind to babysit. Finding her favorite teddy bear missing she storms in her brothers room finding it there. Quoting lines from her fantasy book she asks the goblin king to come take her brother away. The lights flash and her brother no longer cries. A barn owl flutters through the opened window and transforms into the goblin king Jareth who tells her that he has taken the baby as she had requested. Appalled at the realization of what she had done, Sarah begs for the return of her brother. ...

  • A Childhood Favourite!

Labyrinth is a personal favourite of mine and has been since early childhood. It is a classic and I highly recommend it. It's great for all ages. Awesome performances by David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. Engaging plot and dialogue, fun puppet characters, and very slight suspense.

  • I’m no movie buff.

Huge rock star and a great puppet master! How can you not like it if your a child of the 80’s or earily 90’s. I know there remaking this movie atm but this is a great classic film. From time from time my son and I watch this but as a adult I can’t bear to see Dave Bowie in a protruding front loaded spandex outfit. I know he’s a rock start but come on! Lol. Once you see “it”you can’t unsee “it”. Thumbs up IMO. Hope my crummy 2 cents helps.
