Makes it so much easier when I have to either remove the cap on my off-line chlorinator to replace tabs or to replace the cap. Heretofore, sometimes I had to use a block of wood and a rubber mallet - this tool is great. Here's my tip to make it easier to hold in your hand: I added 2 fairly thick sections of Styrofoam (cut to match the length/width of the handle) and duct taped them to sandwich the item's plastic handle to get a good grip when tightening or unloosening the chlorinator cap.Makes it so much easier when I have to either remove the cap on my off-line chlorinator to replace tabs or to replace the cap. You get what you pay for!
I had purchased five of these o rings and upon receiving them, I immediately installed the first one. In little over a week, that first one warped out and I had to replace it. Both times, I liberally applied the lubricant, as recommended. Now it's only been two days since I installed the second one, and it's already giving me problems opening and closing the lid. The quality of the o rings are poor, to say the least. Wrench does the job--BUT---
Wrench does the job--BUT--- . Yes, It opens the top of the chlorinator just fine. My only concern is its life expectancy. It is plastic (makes sense around the chlorine)--BUT is it a bit overly flexible and light weight. For now---I think it is great. How many seasons will it last??? Ask me again in a few years.

Simply the BEST!
I used to maintain several commercial swimming pools in my younger years. I always used and relied upon Hayward chlorinators on all of my pools.
