Based on the long-running Marvel comic book series, X-MEN takes place in the near future, as certain humans are evolving into mutants with special powers. In the Canadian wilderness, a young runaway mutant named Rogue (Anna Paquin) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), a bad-tempered, quick-healing mutant with retractable metal claws, are suddenly attacked by the powerful Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his lackeys. Fortunately, Cyclops (James Marsden) and Storm (Halle Berry), students of the compassionate Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), interfere and bring them back to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Here Wolverine and Rogue learn more about the conflict between Xavier and the militant Magneto, who wants to power a device that will genetically alter humans, with possibly deadly results. Only Xavier's students can stop Magneto's plans.Director Bryan Singer (THE USUAL SUSPECTS) displays his expertise with an ensemble cast, accomplishing a feat by making the first live-action film about an entire group of superheroes. Hugh Jackman's portrayal of the ill-tempered Wolverine is dead-on, while Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are ideally matched in their Martin Luther King, Jr.- and Malcolm X-like roles. Smart and well-paced, X-MEN towers above most comic book movies.

    Great relatively unknown version of Mad Max

    Good story line set in Great Britain / Scotland. Good action movie with the Walking dead actually " thinkers" and survivors cannibals. If you like Walking dead and I am legend this is a great genre movie in that ilk. Worth your time and attention

    A very good action movie and great adaptation

    This movie is very well created and a very good movie adaptation of a comic book. There were some minor changes made to the characters adn wardrobe, but none are bad at all and all make for a better movie. The action is fantastic and the special effects are great. It is a funny and non-stop with a good back story that gives you enough background so as not to bore you to death. It is obvious this is the first in what will be a franchise of X-men movies, but this is a great stand alone movie and is very good. This version has the anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1 aspect ratio) and if you have a widescreen television you want to get this version. The sound is of course incredible with 5.1 Surround.     "X-Men" is great entertainment

    This DVD is as good as I remember from when I had a VHS version. You get enough history on the characters so you don't need any "Origins" DVDs.

    X-Men

    I already have X-Men on VHS. I am currently replacing my favorites with DVDs because the take up less space and are less likely to get messed up with wear and tear. VHS tapes tend to get hung up in the tape player after repeated use,and I do not want to lose my favorites. I really enjoy X-Men. I read the comic books growing up. Seeing them brought to life is really great.
