Some alcohol and repeated USB insertions fixed it. The main reason for replacing this was the mic issue common to this model phone. The price was low enough that it wouldn't have been a big loss if it didn't work.

I attempted to resolve with the seller but they only want me to keep what they sent and make it work without the 3 O ring stickers which is impossible. Buyers beware of false advertising and you may want to look elsewhere to purchase the same item
