There are downloadable updates to the OS available and plenty of online videos with tips and such. Not something that you would pocket, but for sitting on the night stand while you listen to old Art Bell broadcasts and such, it works just fine. It does have a rechargeable battery and you can use any "C" tytpe USB cable to charge it. The programming cable is a little old-school, but I found one in the attic
