scholastic children dictionary
I really like the book because it has simple words for my brother and not just that but it also has picture which was awesome and easy for me to teach my little brother to understand what the word mean. I don't really like the fact that the book was damaged and has ripped edges because on the description didn't fit well with what i believe it says. Overall, everything was okay with me.

Scholastic Children's Dictionary-Great Buy!
This is a "must have" if you have children up to the age of 14 or so. Perfect for those between 5 and 12. It is full of all the things a dictionary should have (so kids actually learn about alphabetical order, syllables, word origins); but the actual definitions are not overly long and are easy to understand. It has a few good illustrations, enough to keep younger students interested. It also has flags of other countries, a map of the U.S., state facts, list of presidents, and the Braille and American Sign Language alphabet in the back. It even has a section on "how to use this book". It is a little on the heavy side-but all good dictionaries should be! It is just right for those it is intended for-children. In this day of "everything computer"-I like to know that I am providing training ... This is a "must have" if you have children up to the age of 14 or so. Perfect for those between 5 and 12. I love the Scholastic Children's Dictionary!
As a teacher, I can say that many kids buy this dictionary. Inevitably, someone wants to look at it and soon it is circulating around my classroom. It is easy to use, and it helps kids become familiar with a dictionary without being too threatening. The graphics, pictures, and bold text make the book easy to use. I highly recommend this great reference tool!
