    Astonishing story!

This is a gripping story about a secret mission to rescue downed airmen during WWII. My dad was one of those airmen rescued - we never knew about it (participants were sworn to secrecy) until a friend told us his name was listed in Mr. Freeman's book. What a revelation about some of those people from the Greatest Generation. Well written; of interest to anyone who enjoys historical information, or just a good book to read. Thank you, Mr. Freeman.

  • Great topic & well written

I enjoy reading, but not fiction. This book fits right in to what I like. Great bit of history that I have not already heard about ten times. A refreshing, new topic. It is the kind of book that is very hard to put down.

  • A few good men can make all the difference

More a history lesson than an aviation adventure, but a valuable addition to any WWII book collection. Several truly noble, fearless personalities from the Greatest Generation are nicely developed and their stories well told.

  • Good title for a movie also

This is a great read detailing a dangerous mission to evacuate downed airmen in WW2. Film rights were bought in 2017 so I hope they make a movie based on this story.
