Its a great little shade
Yes, I know that many people today donot use lens shades because they are made of cheap plastic and are usually difficult to use, i.e. can't get them on and lock properly. This tried and true slotted design works well on your lens and the cap covers the opening of the shade leaving you with a fast solution to take cap off for quick shots. With is relative shallow design it should work fine for these one-size fits all zooms from wide-open to full exteision. I have this slotted design on all of my glass prime lenses and have never had a problem with the shade. On the surface, this is a nice looking hood, sized correctly to zoom the Lumix LX100's lens at 24mm equiv., without vignetting (it does this) and appears to thread properly into the lens. That is, until you retract the lens. IF the hood was attached and screwed snug with the lens tube EXTENDED, upon turning the camera OFF the lens tube will bind and the camera will not turn off correctly. This could damage the lens. IF the hood is attached snugly with the lens RETRACTED (OFF position), it will be a few threads loose when you turn the camera ON and extend the lens. Why? Because when threaded in with lens tube retracted, the hood touches the lens barrel, but the threads do not bottom out in the lens tube. If those threads were 2-3mm deeper, this would work correctly and you could stow ... Nice way to block stray light.
I put a UV filter on the lens making it more susceptible to flare. This shade screws into the 43 mm threads and the cap attaches to the front of the hood. I plan on leaving it on. Using a Lumix LX100 II,

Lens hood was wider than I expected but with the lens set-back into the body somewhat, it does not affect performance. Will keep it!
