    Fantastic beginner book

Bought book from Discover-Books. The book is in excellent condition. I was warned from reviews on another site to not buy the 4th edition because it is of poor quality. I rented 4th edition from a public library to see the claims and I compared it to the 1989 edition I bought from discover-books and the claims were surprisingly true. All the illustrations are quite dark it looks like a copy of a copy and the section on color theory was removed in the 4th edition and also sections in 4th edition are not in an order that is appetizing to a beginning artist. Bottom line: 1989 edition is way better than the newest 4th edition

  • Great 1st book on art. Easy, great ex's..Really Like it

It's more than a book on drawing; it's a book on improving spatial awareness, right-brain thinking and visual appreciation. The exercises are really cool and get me to stretch in a way I've never had to before. I haven't picked up a pencil or brush in nearly 20 years, but this book has me drawing better than I did when I was actively practicing. Again, I haven't touched another book in years, so I'm unaware of what else is out there, but I'm very happy with this book nonetheless. I was recommended to read and use this book as an exercise in developing remote viewing skills, and I must say I'm glad I bought it. Why others who've bought it and don't follow through with it behooves me. If you enjoy drawing, you should make this book part of your library...and USE IT.

  • Drawing on the right side of the brain

Because the author is very concise and clear with the information and instructions she gives you. She gives you samples to draw the way she tells you to and helps to get you where you want to go.

  • "The" learn to draw book

Unlike other books that will let you learn to draw this or that, this book teaches the half dozen skills needed to be able to draw anything and do it very well. The exercises in this book and practice will let anyone, ANYONE, who wants to, learn to draw. How do I know? I have taught, quite literally, thousands of people to draw using the lessons in this book. In learning to draw with is book, talent, while convenient, is not necessary, practice and perseverance is! You will need a ream of copier paper, an ordinary number 2 pencil and stick to it. My students got great results in about a month of doing the exercises every day for an hour or so.

  • Granddaughters Have Talent

I used this book with my children, now it’s for granddaughters! You need a good strong drawing base no matter what medium you end up using. Book arrived in a reasonable amount of time. It will be enjoyed!
