  • Unique Concept = Really Good Book

The Lovely Bones is a fascinating book told from a most unusual perspective. The narrator is a young girl named Susie who, as the book begins, has already been murdered and is looking down on her family and friends. Through her eyes, we learn the story of her death and watch her family and friends come to grip with her loss. We are also able to watch her murderer, as he is known to Susie, which adds an interesting twist to the novel. Alice Sebold is able to take a very unique premise for a book and develop it into a truly interesting book. This novel kept my attention throughout and my thoughts kept returning to it between readings. I am quite keen to check out more books by this author.

  • The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones was a unique book due to the fact that you were reading it from the perspective of Susie Salmon, a fourteen-year old female murder victim. The book follows Susie as she watches her family and friends continue to move forward with their lives on earth as she investigates and ponders that for wondrous entity called “Heaven.” As time moves forward, Susie becomes aware of the strain that has been placed on her parent’s relationship due to her murder and watches as her sister takes the stance of “hardening” herself so as to remain strong, while her little brother attempts to understand and comprehend the meaning of the word “gone.” Through all of this, Susie still longs to be back on earth with the individuals she loves and cares about while at the same time, exploring her ...

  • The Lovely Bones

Wow what an unusual book to read. I had to read the book because it was chosen for my book club. It had me gasping outloud. There were even moments when I had to physically stop reading and then re-read what I had just went over. It was a book that had so many twists and turns in it that my head was spinning. I had a difficult time putting it down. I have never read a book like it in my life and I look forward to seeing how it is put on the big screen by Peter Jackson. I have to admit I am one of those that can usually figure out the ending way before it comes but this one is not one of those books at all. You are left feeling numb in so many sections and drunk in others. I recommend reading it if not for any reason but because it is so unlike any other book out there.

  • Death be not lost

I was simply amazed by the descripted matter contained by the author portraying a murdered victim viewing her own death and watching from her Heaven as family and others follow her killer to other unfortunate beings. I was given this book to read after my Dad passed. I was so intrigued that I passed it on to others and since loosing track of who had it. I since have found another book by the same author and found myself compelled to read it.And of course I needed to obtain the original book and found it on e-bay. It was simply fantastic doing my shopping on line from my easy chair. Thanks for making this available to the public at such an affordable price. I encourage anyone to read these books. They are unforgettable.

  • The Lovely Bones

Having read this book before and then passing it along to a friend, left me without a truly great book to re-read. Yes, the storyline is sad and more than thought-provoking but the way it's written the author takes you on a trip exploring the psyche of this child and the way she was murdered--allowing for "justice" in the end with the murderer's fate. The fact that the author not only takes you with the child in her mind as reality--but also provides insight to the fate of the other victims even if ever so slightly I could not keep from reading this book until I finished it.....it is easily read and understood.
