    Good boat cover support.

I like this boat cover support. I am glad it is made of metal versus plastic and that it has good adjustment range. I wish that the bottom plate was much larger than what it is.

    improper fitting parts

the poles do not fit well into the plastic top and bottom holders. the bottom can be pushed in with some amount of brute strength needed. i did grease the aluminum shaft so it would slide in with a little more ease and i would have a lesser chance of splitting the plastic holder. the upper pole would not start into the holder at all. either the pole diameter is too big or the plastic holders socket where the pole goes in is undersized. i did have to take the upper pole to a grinding wheel and grind it down so it would start into the holder and i also greased the pole so it would go in easier. i did use a rubber mallet to pound it in. for the average non-mechanic non-shop smart person, they would send it back because it does not fit together well. I made it work, but shouldn't have to fix ...

  • Freeze the Pole and Heat the Plastic Feet

The plastic ends were too tight to install, so I put the aluminum pole in the freezer and the plastic ends in a very low oven for a few minutes to get them good and warm. The aluminum will shrink slightly, and the plastic will expand enough to be able to install them fully onto the shafts without too much difficulty. (Pull the smaller top tube out about 6 inches to grip it, and allow firm pressure on the end plate.) Once the temps stabilize, it will be nice and secure. Run one webbing around the front and the other to the back, and bring all the buckles back to the center of the boat, before attaching to the post. Tighten each strap to take up slack and the post will stay standing nicely, with tight webs. It was easy to do alone in this way.

  • Could be sturdier

Product doesn't seem as sturdy as I'd like, but the very reasonable price reflects that. I can see how you could adapt it to make it sturdier, but by itself, not the best. Also, would be nice to have instructions on how to use it for us novice boat owners.

  • poor quality

The ends are soft plastic where the straps connect. It wont last 1 season in the weather, or the pressure from the straps. The bottom support falls over, it isnt wide enough to stay up in the boat, I had to attach a board to it, to get it to stay up. The straps are decent and long
