Engaging, futuristic epidemic scenario
This show is such a refreshing twist from all the legal, murder, and medical rescues we have had for so long. It reflects a time when an epidemic which is wiping out the entire world is being solved aboard a military ship. During their absence many family member have been lost and the population is drastically reduced. The goal of the first season is to keep the crew of the ship safe while a vaccine is being discovered. The entire season was excellent from start to finish. Interestingly, the storyline in season 2 begins with development success, disbursement, and cure. It then goes on to the trials of rebuilding not only the USA but the world. Great Concept, Dissapointing Delivery
If you're expecting something as reflective or insightful as Nevile Shute's post-apocalyptic masterpiece 'On The Beach' (that 'The Last Ship' is loosely based on); the 1959 classic film; or even the 'OK' 2000 remake - you'll be disappointed. I was excited about seeing Rhona Mitra again, especially after her excellent work in 'Strike Back', as well as John Pyper-Ferguson '(Suits', 'Burn Notice'). But... despite good production value with competent casting & acting... pedestrian scripts built around uninspiring plot-lines sink what could be a riveting 'global pandemic' series. I stuck it through the Season 1 DVD set hoping it would find its groove & pick-up momentum, but 'The Last Ship' proves to be predictable network-type fare that stretches 'cinematic license' a bit too far too often. I'll pass on the follow-up Season 2 & 3, but hey, if it got renewed - twice - obviously it has an audience.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
