      Excellent Tomato Processing Set-Up For Small To Medium Home Gardens But Could Be Improved

      Excellent Tomato processing package. We processed s between 100-150 lbs of tomatoes over several weeks with our Commercial KitchenAid Mixer and although it was tedious because of the limitations of the machine, it ran flawlessly and worked well. The KitchenAid Juicer/Food Grinder combo does have a few minor engineering issues but they are pretty easily dealt with, although it's clear the machine was designed for smaller batches than we had from our home garden. The feeding hopper is tiny and not able to be enlarged easily. This unit needs a bigger feeding hopper! In addition, the pulp extruder is too close to the juice output area. We placed a few inches of clear tubing hose to extend the pulp extrusion and that helped. You will also need to be creative in placing your catchpots. Why ...

      WISH I HAD BOUGHT ONE SOONER

      I bought the grinder and fruit and vegetable strainer. The grinder makes grinding meat for sandwiches so easy! I had used a hand crank grinder that suctions to the counter. I can't believe I waited so long to buy this attachment! I can't wait to use the strainer for making apple sauce.

      I don’t know how I lived without this!!!

      I don’t know how I ever lived without this! It works beautifully! You do have to push the food in gently and a bit slowly to allow time for the skins, peels, and seeds to come out. Otherwise it gets clogged up. It is still WAY faster and cleaner to use than anything else I’ve ever used, though!!!

      A quantum leap in applesauce preparation.

      Super unit, easily assembled. We were able to process enough apples to make 8 gallons of applesauce in two afternoon sessions, way better than with the old hand screener. We highly recommend this unit...it has changed our experience for the better.
