    Item received. Item found to be as described in offering. I would have appreciated more careful packaging of my items. The “on the shelf” boxes that item come in ARE NOT ADEQUATE SHIPPING PROTECTION. These switches have a very fragile lever arm on them that is very easily broken. Just a pLastic wrap around the box provides NO PROTECTION. An outer box and some bubble wrap is the way to go. Thanks.

    A Keeper

    Bought this because another 4-8-4 which I bought used turned out to have a broken axle and Bachmann says they can't fix it because it is no longer manufactured. So much for a literal lifetime warranty but that's another story. This War Baby is a beautiful reproduction of the proto! I briefly tested it to ensure it operated new out of the box and of course it does, so it is now part of a collection and not on a pike. Because of that I cannot speak to its durability but I can say I own several Bachmann locos which have operated flawlessly for many years. My only disappointment is its point of origin. But for reasons which should be obvious, products like this simply can't be built here profitably any more. My advice; buy em when you can. the DC versions will become extinct imo.

    Good and strong

    Nice loco. Powerful and reliable. Only drawback is that it's a bit noisy, but that's to be expected with a steam loco.
