  • A little stiff (of course) but it is a good reed.

I use them on my Dorado 500. A stiff reed, for me, needs more air to get them going and I run out of air a little too soon. I don't do circular breathing. But it is a real solid reed. This is me; I take 400 grit wet and dry sand paper (real fine) and and polish the top of the bamboo bamboo to get the reed smooth so it doesn't chap my lips. Then I take a razor blade and plane the bottom, a couple of scrapes, to take some stiffness out...just a tad. They sound fine and they are a good value. I have several brands from a 2.0 to these 3.5s and some 3.0 synthetics. This reed is probably to easiest reed for me to hit the lower register. Like anything in life, matching the reed with the right mouthpiece, right ligature, right setup, and sax is complicated. I have 5 mouthpieces (Selmer, Otto Link, etc) and 5 different types of reeds. Some combinations work, come don't. These work fine on a number 6 mouthpiece for my mouth and setup.
