  • cool lens

Was a little afraid that the lens would turn out to be dark and would not focus when the holes were closed. I was pleasantly surprised that even on f18 the lens focuses well and quickly. I liked that you can move the front part instead of zooming. This allows you to first focus on a focal length of 100 mm and, if necessary, expand the lens to 400. You can also leave the lens hood in any position. makes macro not very small objects and flowers. You can catch large birds on the fly with some skill. While I hold the lens on the camera, I like everything. It’s better to shoot birds at a distance of no more than 10 meters with a full-format camera, this allows you to crop the excess, I did not shoot on a dx camera. I don’t like how the front cover works. Stabilization works well, did not make any special observations, but really helps.

  • Outstanding performance for price and physical size

Was reading other rave reviews for this lens. They are right on. Extremely sharp at all focal lengths. Sigma hit a home run on this one. Construction seems robust and lens has a good feel in your hands. Amazing to get the focal length and performance in a lens this size and at the price point. 100% satisfied.

  • A must have for sports and wildlife!

This lens is so sharp. It is portable and covers a good range of focal lengths. It would be wise to also get the dock as this can greatly improve the OS experience. Although it costs more, this lens is a "no brainer" replacement for any of the 70-300mm lenses.

  • A miniature 150-600 Sport.

Awesome lens. I am amazed at the quality of images produced at all settings. In fact it does not have a bad setting - even 1.6 meters at 400mm at F6.3 - sharp. An even bigger surprise is that it works well with the 1401 converter at F11 and AF still works on my D500. A brilliant carry all day lens. My main advice is set your AF micro adjust on the camera body first then tweak the final setting via the USB hub. My D810 slightly upsets the OS at 1/90 - 1/180 - not the lenses fault. Even Nikon VR lenses have this problem when used with a D800 series camera. The D500 - no problem at all in this respect.

  • Best Value for a 100-400MM Zoom

This lens looks, feels and handles like a 70-200MM 2.8. The focus is very fast for a zoom and it every bit as sharp as my Nikon 200-500MM. The color rendition is not as deep as the 200-500, but you would only notice this when comparing identical pictures side-by-side. If I could only have one zoom I would take this over the 200-500.

  • A Great Sigma Lens

I have a couple of other Sigma lenses that I have used in the past. I bought this one because of the success that I have had with Sigma before. This lens is sharp, rather large, but not bad. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

  • Fantastic value, so glad I added this to my kit

I have to admit I'm more than impressed by this particular lens. It is every bit as sharp as my Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8 even when shot at 400mm. Autofocus is fast and accurate, and it's quite a bit lighter and easier to carry then a lot of other telephoto options such as a 150-600mm, which makes it a fantastic option when your doing a lot of walking.
