Does What it Says It Will Do
This allows you to connect a 3.5mm jack (i.e., a headset or headphones) to newer Apple devices which only have Lightening connectors. However the microphone will not work (this is clearly stated), you'll only be able to listen to music/podcasts. May or may not be worth it to you to have this type of functionality. The better option is to save your money and put it towards buying all new peripherals for your phone that use the newer (Lightening) connectors.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works, but with hissing in background.
Bought 3 of these to use with various devices and applications. The first impression out of the package is that it appears more durable than the Apple product; longer with thicker cable. Tested all 3 cables with in ear monitors and through a large audio system. The sound is audible clear. However, there is a noticeable hiss in the background, similar to what you’d hear on an old record. It is annoying, but workable for rehearsals, around the house, and non-audiophile listening. I would NOT use this to integrate an Apple device into a live performance. Decent value for what it is; general purpose listening. If you need high quality audio, I would recommend the Apple dongle or via Bluetooth. Inexpensive for having around as a backup, but not for crystal clear audio.

Not that good but when it works it works.
I’ve had apple name brand and And many apple certified off brands adapters. These adapters I bought do not work that well sometimes they do not want to work and sometimes the middle of listening to music or watching a movie with them talk to my speaker it just stopped working and it says on my phone not certified or need to unlock phone to have product working. Usually that means according to my friend that is in the tech business that it’s not certified by Apple so the phone doesn’t register that the products in there or that is a safe product. Works well on my iPhone X
I ordered some cheaper knock-off ones from a different eBay retailer but they didn't work. Bought two this retailer because they said "genuine apple", so figured they would have to work - and they did. When I needed two more (my daughter bought an iPhone 8), I came back this same retailer and the additional two worked nicely as well.
