    Easy handling and operation.

    The details are realistic and coupling cars is easy. The wheels are easy to mount onto track due to size. These features allow play for young children easy and fun! The remote is simple to operate and handle even for a 3 year old.

    Train

    I like the train but to me from the pictures it appeared to be made of metal, Also why didn't they make it run on 110volt power or transformer power like the regular Lionel trains, Batteries C size are costly so if you plan to use or play with it a lot buy rechargeable batteries, The reason I said no on durable a lot of plastic. Reason I said I recommend it is because it cost a lot less than a regular Lionel train.

    Very entertaining

    Highly entertaining toy with great sound effects, lights, and controls. Speed can be adjusted and can even go in reverse. Good quality components that are light-weight yet durable. Highest speed setting is not extremely fast though that may be preferred. Also runs well in reverse. Track can be modified to make three different shapes including a circle, a square, and an oval. Could easily be the centerpiece of a Christmas display and, likely, the most fun.

    New version for better or worse

    The train is maid of plastic but has a quality feel. Previous version had a battery compartment in the tender and most importantly could take a 9.6V rc battery pack, which this version cannot. This new version has a battery compartment in the engine with a recommendation for alkaline batteries. The good thing is that there is no wire between tender and engine, the bad thing is that it seems to be designed for non rechargable batteries which is more than a little backwards. Another thing that feels cheapish is the cool led light. I can't understand why they didn't use a more realistic warm white led.

    Great train!

    My kids love the movie and this train did not disappoint! Easy set up and sound effects are fun for the kids!!! Now for the grown up review: Great sturdy packaging will make it easy to pack up and store nicely. I only have 2 wishes, which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 star review... 1- I wish that it had a volume control on it, at high speed it is loud and the only way to make it lower is for the train to go slower and that's not so much fun for the kids, and 2 - It would have been an awesome effect if the passenger cars lit up. Overall I am very happy with this train set and definitely recommend it. There are awesome accessories that are available too :)
