  • Fantastic all-around lens for D3100

I have not been picky or selective about my lens purchases over the years. To be honest, I was wasting my money on lenses that were not 100% compatible with my camera. I have a D3100, and I have never purchased AF-S lenses, and boy was I missing out. This lens is the bee's knees. Compact, lightning-fast, super durable, and so easy to handle. Very smooth, accurate, and great in bright and low light conditions. I can't wait to use this lens more. It will be a near permanent feature on my camera body from now on.

  • Works but autofocus is broken

The lens is fine except for the fact that it has an image stabilization issue with the autofocus. It makes a really loud whirring sound every time it tries to focus on an object, and the whole image on the viewfinder shakes for a couple of seconds until autofocus is complete. I think this is because there is a broken, lose piece inside the lens that you can hear when you gently shake it. So far, this hasn't been much more of an issue other than annoying and loud, but still disappointing given the description/price of the lens as being in excellent condition.
