Great Camera. It takes black and white for those special pictures that are just not right in color as well as color. Plus an added feature is the ability to take moving pictures that can be down loaded to the video on a computer. This is a great camera and also a great price. So far I have not had any dislike with the camera. But there have been several times that I have left it at home and wished that I have had it with me. Soon it will be like the cell phone; you won't leave home without it. It is small enough to fit in a man's shirt pocket; that is in size and weight and easily slips into a ladie's purse.
What can you say, the brand NIKON says it all. NIKON produces the absolute best optics and lenses money buys period. This camera was purchased because of its small size as I needed a quality camera for my business. Certainly smaller than I would purchase for use if I were a photographer however this little jewel produces picture quality of cameras costing hundreds of dollars more. Because of the cameras small size it fits very well into the front compartment of my soft sided leather briefcase and the no additional charge leather pouch made specifically for this camera, as well as a two year extended Nikon warranty, and to top it all off, no charge shipping for less than $100.00 this purchase was a complete no brainer. Would I recommend this camera to family and friends? ABSOLUTELY To say the least I am extremely happy with this purchase.Read full review
I had the COOLPIX S3100 before this one. Both deliver on ease of use and features. Only 2 negatives come to mind and are excusable for just the hundred bucks I spent. 1)the camera starts up fast from 'off' position, but when it goes into a 'sleep' mode it takes longer to restart! So, just turn it off. 2) the images when blown up ( to like 30x40 inches)shows artifacts and lack of edge sharpness. You'll never see it on a post card size print or and 8x10 even. So, don't do professional weddings! This truly is a pocket camera. You don't need the 16 megapixels- you won't blow it up to 40 inches. I have reduced it to an 8 megapixel setting with no noticeable loss of quality, but more ease of transferring smaller files to Craigslist, Photobucket, etc. (I may go smaller yet and it would take a year to fill up a SD card). I use the menu wheel on the back a lot. You can easily push the right side of it to increase or decrease the exposure (light or dark). Press the top part and you can turn the flash on or off (a couple of different ways). Press the bottom part and you are in close-up mode (some things shouldn't be seen that close!) Press the left side for shutter delay- 2 or 10 seconds. It will focus fast and select out faces, but then for landscapes you can go into the menu and reset the AF (auto focus) settings, or get it out of focus sometime- but then most of these point and shoots do that- at least you can get some focus control and exposure control and easy framing control. Did I mention the main reason I got this one? The framing you can do with the wide angle. (about like a 27mm lens in 35mm format). Quite wide for a point and shoot. Plus it has a 6x zoom feature. It seems sharp at both wide and long focal lengths. The chargeable battery lasts for a hundred pictures easily. 200 really, but I use the flash and the viewfinder a lot. I took this little guy to So. America instead of my trusty Canon 40D (which is better in it's own ways)because I did not want to lug around the extra weight (or worry about it getting stolen). This 3300 also has a decent enough lens to shoot sunsets with out a bunch of flare and artifacts. Stays sharp even misused. Oh, it does movies, too. Haven't used it much, but it is readily accessible with its' own button. This is my 6th small camera and the best for the bucks so far. An Olympus died at 6 months last year- I had gotten that one for the wide angle, also. A 5 year ol Canon Sureshot 3megapixel still functions- very tough but seriously outdated. I hope this one lasts as long and I hop this review helps you, too.Read full review
This is the 3rd Coolpix I own...very handy to have more than one around in case the battery gets exhausted. I can switch them out. It was a great deal for $17 plus shipping. complete with cord, software and tripod.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Very happy with the compact size of this newer (S3300) model improved over a COOLPIX that I have owned for several years now. My older version was powered by two AA batterys while this model has a single rechargeable battery. Not too sure of the life of the battery yet, so I have purchased two backup rechargeables to make sure that I have enough capacity. I will probably find out the battery life this summer. My older version has performed flawlessly for over four years and expect this one to be as good if not better as a Nikon should be. Excellnat picture quality, easy downloading to a file or computer and very easy to use. Ths smaller size probably will require a little more care to not misplace?
Great product! This camera is very lightweight and compact. We bought this so we didn't have to lug around our heavier Nikon when hiking. The picture quality is impressive for such a small camera. I am especially impressed with the length of videos you can make (dependant on the size of your memory card.) Overall, I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for higher quality for a great price.
It was a Christmas gift and I read a lot of reviews written about this entry level digital camera before purchasing and all were very good... so I purchased it. My daughter just wanted a small digital camera to upload photos to Facebook and take some video footage also of the grandchildren in sports. The package purchased included the camera and its accessories, a case, 8GB memory card and owner's protection kit...and the price was excellent. It's a respected brand, appears to be well made and should work for what she wants to do with it.
I have been using Kodak Easy Share products for years. Now these items and their software are no longer manufactured. It is a waste of money to purchase another Easy Share camera even though there are so many being offered on Ebay. I researched cameras that I could afford and found excellent ratings for the Nikon Coolpix cameras. One of it's functions is a pet photo setting that doesn't take the picture until the animal is actually facing the camera. I breed Siamese kittens and this function is fantastic! The Nikon software is easy to use and to understand and the pictures can be sent to any other software program in one's computer. There are a lot of pluses with this camera that I didn't have with my Kodak cameras. I love this camera and the price was perfect for me.
Pictures quality is awesome. Photos are easy to modify and adjust. Camera is compact and easy to travel with without having to carry a bulky camera care. Video quality is great, and easy to upload to your computer. Features are very easy to use for anyone.
This is a great camera for taking the kinds of pictures I am taking. I am a jewelry maker and a painter and needed something at a reasonable cost that could take high definition pictures, close up to show the items I list on my online store. This camera works great for that! Several adjustment features make this a very smart buy at a reasonable cost. I recommend!
