Personal Rating: 5/5 - Story Line & Gameplay 3/5 - Graphics 3/5 - Difficulty 4/5 - Lasting Appeal Good for Kids? YES - ages 8+ With help from an adult. I bought this 'bout a year ago. I'm a big 'Lord of the Rings' fan. But, what really drew me was - not only the Story Line, but the feeling that this title might become hard to find in the near future. (If you buy it New or 'Complete' - you should get a Special Collector Card in with your Game Inserts. Its like a Trading Card). I really loved the Adventure aspect of this Game. You play many different lands - starting in The Shire, where you live. The Lands are quite large, and you can explore pretty much everywhere. A child would need help in remembering where certain places, items and people are located. The scenery is very colorful. Tune the in-game settings to get full visual effect. It has some Great Music too! Interesting things to explore, accomplish & collect. You can even take a close up look at things on the wall~ Like photos of Bilbo & his family. So cute! XD Though, the all-around graphics are lacking just a bit. It is an older game, and the characters can look "blocky". Loading can be slow. Other than that.. it's a pretty fun lil game! I'd recommend it for adults & children alike. As well as Collectors. It's a Good game to know you have.Read full review
The Hobbit is a great little video game experience. It brings you into the world of the book and then expands upon it. While keeping with the basic premise of the book, there are added puzzles and goals to be achieved with each book section. From the begining where you search for your walking stick, to saving Beorn during the battle of 5 armies this game will have you moving your little Bilbo all over the level maps. Easy to pick up and play. My only complaint, once completed you can't return to any previous levels unless you have used one of the four save points (another issue I had, since my son used the game at the same time as me). I did a couple times have to GOOGLE a walkthrough to see what the heck I was supposed to be doing at certain parts, I did enjoy this game and will likely start over to make sure I complete all mini quests............ my advice? Take your time through it and complete the mini quests while you are there.... as Bilbo once said "There's no going back" well....... he thought it at least!Read full review
Overall, this is an enjoyable game to play. It's as faithful in plot to the book as a video game could be, and Bilbo himself doesn't disapoint in the personality department. The controls are calibrated well enough (though not to my "Zelda" standards) it's not to difficult to get the character from point A to point B. There are several very frustrating spots in this game, where Bilbo's repeated death is all that seems possible to acomplish. It is saved by means of save points, but these aren't to far in between in most of the tricky places. There are also purple crystals that are often present to show you the way forward. I would recomend this game, as I enjoyed most of my time playing it. The first few chapters were (to me) were the most difficult, geting the feel for the game and controls etc.Read full review
Its not as good as a Zelda game but if you like getting items and going through dungeons and defeating enemies with your sword or your wits then you will like this game... like i said they kinda copied the Zelda formula but it actually works really well and probably the best Lord of the rings universe game ...

Not only does this game have great graphics and fun game play but its story stay closer to the book than the movies. The nice thing is the diversity of areas in each stage as you venture thru the world they created. The other great feature is the different types of game play that are featured: quest, fighting, steath etc. The best thing is that it takes over 12 hours to play all the way thru.
