Product Information

The ASUSTeK NodusM3 version A8M2N-LA AMD CPU motherboard is one of the best options for putting together a very affordable rig that still performs well with basic computing tasks. Originally a proprietary motherboard for the HP Pavilion and Compaq desktop series, the A8M2N-LA has an AM2 socket that supports several AMD CPU versions: the Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2 and Sempron processor series. This ASUSTeK motherboard supports AMD multi-core processor types with a 64-bit architecture, which means that a desktop with this hardware should be able to handle typical computer functions. These include running Microsoft Office applications, Windows 7, and internet browsing with relative ease. Just like other motherboards in the same generation, the A8M2N-LA AMD motherboard accommodates DDR2 DIMM memory modules with four 240-pin sockets. These RAM slots support PC 4200 (533 MHz) and PC2 5300 (667MHz) DDR2 DIMMs for a maximum of four or more gigabytes of random access memory. The BIOS features include an Award brand BIOS Keyboard system and users only need to enter the BIOS settings by pressing F1. The BIOS has a jumper that allows you to reset the Real Time Clock (RTC) RAM in CMOS or when BIOS is disabling password checking. This may prove to be very useful when it comes to a pre-owned mobo with a BIOS password, as is often the case with those that are previously on some HP systems. The A8M2N-LA AMD processor motherboard comes with a basic set of set of slots and connections for essential desktop computer hardware. Among the internal connectors are four SATA connectors for the main hard drive and backup HDDs, two PATA connectors, one 24-pin ATX power connector, one 4-pin ATX power connector and one floppy drive connector. Other internal connectors include two 12 volt connectors for the CPU fan and the PC fan, one -pin header for power button, reset button, power LED, and HDD LED as well as one audio header for headphone-out and microphone-in, one audio header for line input, four USB connectors, and one IEEE 1394 connector. As for the internal slots for desktop peripherals, this ASUS AMD mobo has several PCI slots including one PCI express slot for ideally for a graphics card and three more slots for other peripherals such as a sound card. Both the graphic and sound cards are useful for enhancing your computer monitor’s display and audio quality. Please note Media Center app may require additional drivers before you can run them on your computer. The ASUSTeK A8M2N-LA Micro-ATX: 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) form factor. Since this mobo belongs to an earlier generation of motherboards, it is a good idea to use an aftermarket heatsink that fits well into the micro-ATX desktop size. Apart from the internal connectors that route to the back of the desktop computer, the back I/O ports of the mobo include PS/2 mouse and keyboard connections, RJ-45 LAN connection, video graphics adapter, and an SPDIF coaxial out.     I could not get it to boot to OS

    I should have researched this board better, it is the same model , but with some differences, less memory slots, less usb slots. Plus it would not boot to OS and it would not load windows 10 install disk, it locked up each time I tried to boot to OS or install disk.

    Manufactured by Asus for HP.....BUT NO MANUAL FROM THEM OR HP!!!

    Made for HP to go in the A1700N! one manual showed only 2 mem slots, this Mboard has 4?? really aggravating to spend 3 hrs looking for a manual to setup this mboard... and NADA!! I will keep looking a bit more...

    Nice choice of M/B for general purplus PC using readily available parts.

    Used this motherboard to upgrade a Dell P3 PC. Needed to make my own I/O shied for the rear of PC case, that was the most difficult part. The mounting of M/B in the P3 case needed a few details resolved. The M/B works great. I used new Crucial memory, a new sata hard drive and a surplus AM2 4800 AMD X2 64 processor. I used a new GeForse 6600Gt video card. It is plenty fast for most normal use, like surfacing the net etc. It is not the latest outfit for video games but is far from the slowest PC around. The critical parts are new, so essentially it is like a new PC.

    Great service prompt delivery.

    I purchased this to Replace a Motherboard for an HP computer. This Computer runs video cameras for security for a business. When you can repair a business computer for less than $60 you make that business aware there are other options than replacing a computer system for thousands of dollars or keep what you have running. I was concerned that without video security for a few days would be a problem. No one knew the cameras where out. Until I showed up with the motherboard.
