About this product

Product Information

Paulo Coelho's enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world, and this tenth anniversary edition, with a new introduction from the author, will only increase that following. This story, dazzling in its powerful simplicity and inspiring wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasures found within. Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago is an eternal testament to the transforming power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts.

First, many thanks to the seller. This person help me with an modification to the purchase, which was, removing and refunding me money for one book I did not require. The books were very well packed and were received in a timely manner. Yes, the books are showing signs of being used, but not abused, closely matching the photos in the ad. For those buyers looking at buying his books, be assured, I found this person treated me in a professional manner, and certainly would be recommended by me.

    Inspirational book!

This is an excellent book. The first time I read it I would go back and read the last paragraph a second time just to relish what was said. Now having read it at least 4 times, it is full of underlined sentences! Gave it to my sister at a hard time in her life and then had to buy another cause I missed having it on my shelf!

  • A lesson for life?

Whilst I did not enjoy this book like I enjoyed Catch 22, or such solid hearty novel, I felt that to offer it less than five stars would be a mistake, and the undervaluing of an important and influential book. I may have loved Catch 22, but I won't necessarily remember it forever, where as The Alchemist raised many issues I believe I will ponder for the remainder of my life. It is a fairly swift read, read by me at odd moments during a single day and finished at the close of the night, and could be described more as pyshcology before novel, however the philosophies of the book are presented brilliantly. Behind the magical mysterious story of a travel loving shepard seeking his true destiny and meeting many people who will shape the rest of his life along the way. I could never 'love' this ...
