Very easy to pick up, customizable controls, decent physics. Low price point, good game for those looking for more of a realistic racer than Mario or Diddy, but plenty of hidden silly bonus items so its not rigid or serious feeling either. I think it would be nice if a bit more variety of vehicles were pre-unlocked, but after a few races you start to unlock more cars. Overall, a great value and should appeal to a range of racing styles. If you want a race game that falls between cartoony and serious competitive, this one is definitely worth the $10.

Well, if I were to be stuck on a desert island and I could only bring one racing game, it would have to be Beetle Adventure Racing. I have played Forza Motorsport 2 on the XBOX360 but I feel that the raw-supercomputer power of the N64 and the smooth CD quality music of this game cannot be matched. I'm willing to bet that this will even give the new Gran Turismo a run for it's money. It is amazing that they managed to fit such an amazing game into a cartridge. But really, this game is fun, not many people know about it, if you have ever played SF Rush, imagine if that was fun and you pretty much have this game. Nothing to deep, good to play if you have 10 minutes to kill. Graphics *** Sound ** Control **** Fun *****
Long after supposedly outgrowing the Nintendo 64 my oldest (21) decided to revisit his childhood and get a 64 system again. His whole Air Force dorm had a blast playing the games. This game in particular is great for a young kid because they can travel on the track or go off road. I recommend the 64 system and a number of the games for those ages 3 to 5 who want to game but aren't really ready to care for the more expensive systems. Also this game is easy to navigate and allows kids to learn how to use the controllers....yes, that is a good coordination and fine motor skill practice. Take it from a school teacher game systems do have many positive benefits for kids so just pay attention to ratings and enjoy!!
This game is great. It's in the same era of the great racing games such as, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong, Mickey Mouse racing. But with a little more adult theme to it, even if it was still a cartoonish game. The 3D, cartoonish look was meant to look more realistic as a racing track, and it did not disappoint. Crusin USA, erotic, adventure and others is where this game fits into. Although the Mario characters get the glory, this game kick ass and was very cool back in 1999. Take a chance and try to get it, I think even after all these years Nintendo 64, SNES, and NES still have the original gaming quality to them, meaning it's more what gaming was to the Generation X crowd.
The graphics are a product of the time but this is definitely a source of my childhood nostalgia from weekends of renting movies and games to pizza joints. The scenery in this game is awesome and was always one of my favorite things bout it. It's an all around awesome racing game super entertaining even great for kids, my daughter got real into it too.

I've been collecting all the games I rented as a child and Beetle Adventure Racing was always a fond memory. I'm glad to know it's just as good if not better than I remembered it.

This is an awesome racing game, I was alittle skeptical at first, how cool can a game be with only the VW Beetle really be. I was wrong, this is lots of fun. The different tracks are challenging but with some practice you figure out the tricks to beating the computer. There are so many alternate routes or shortcuts hidden in the different levels that you can play this game over and over and still find new things and places to go. The head to head racing is great too, my oldest likes racing with me. As you progress through the tracks you unlock new tracks and new, faster cars. This game is a blast to play and you can play upto four people in the Beetle Battle mode. If you are looking for a racing game that will provide you a challenge, then this is it.
