  • Best purchase I have ever made!

For a computer of this age, the Dell Latitude C640 is, in my opinion, the best buy one can make as for as surfing the web, browsing and general application. It is also a fast computer with a few easy upgrades. I have upgraded five of these for myself and family. With a 2.4ghz Pentium 4M processor, 2GB of PC 2700 Non-ecc unbuffered Hynix memory, a 120GB 2.5 Seagate 7200rpm hard drive with Windows 7 Pro and a 8-cell 5200mah battery, this 11 year old laptop can and will still work wonders. The drawback is that it doesn't work well with gaming applications and that the video chip is not upgradeable. But I've had mine for about two years and it will almost keep up with my desktop Core-2-Duo. Fact is, I have no intentions of buying another laptop! I am very pleased with this one! All of ...

  • Good deal for the price if you know what you're doing

Not a bad deal for the price, but the Latitude C640 is a 10 year old machine that shows its age. It will browse the web and handle chores such as word processing, but it will be a little slow for games, video and video chat applications. You will do well to add memory (1 gig is the workable minimum) and upgrade the wifi board (get a mini-PCI 802.11g Broadcomm board). If you have parts lying around these are a good deal.
