A fairly ambitious event: tell the story of a year in the DC universe in real-time. 52 issues covering 52 weeks in a year without Superman, Batman, or Wonder woman, following some underappreciated characters like Booster Gold, Steel, Black Adam, and the Question. As a fan of Booster Gold I enjoyed his story quite a bit, but I was surprised at how compelling Steel's and Black Adam's stories were (with Black Adam being the standout best). This was a great read I highly recommend to any fan of DC or these characters. That being said, there were some odd missteps. I didn't like the writers killing off Vic Sage (created by Steve Ditko) to pass the mantle of the Question onto a new character. It was sorta' pointless: just giving an already established character (Montoya) a new role in the DCU, while getting rid of a more interesting character. And the new Batwoman doesn't make much sense to me. I haven't read her solo-series but the character doesn't seem to have any reason (or even much of the skillset) for taking up the mantle, unlike Batman and his protegees. Her only function in the story seems to be a romantic interest for Montoya (the new Question). Regardless, It was a great read.Read full review

An interesting collection of stories into the New 52 reboot of the DCU. Well written and illustrated, Giving shape and substance to much of what would follow across the DCU landscape. The overall story relates to other DC titles, but they need not be read to enjoy the main course.
