Good design and so far do good
This is a great product. I have only had it for a couple of weeks and although it was easy to setup and use, it took quite a bit of time to transfer photos from my Apple-based cell phone to the device. Not worth the effort.
First off, setup is a pain. As with a lot of other purchasers, I couldn't get past the blinking light. Altho I was able to contact technical support, the response as to how to troubleshoot would not be acceptable if you're not technically savvy. Also, I have all my photos organized in specific folders. I asked tech support if ibi will be able to sync accordingly and was told ibi will not perform this task. It's main purpose is to automatically upload phones from your mobile device and to share your photos with your "circle of friends". ibi is convenient and easy to use
Great because can access thousands of pictures from any of my devices wherever I am. Nice to share pictures with others privately where I control who see's my pictures. Own my private Cloud without cost of subscribing or rely on my pictures being "out there" at some other location than my own private devices. Pictures from cell phone automatically copied to my ibi - saves a lot of time. I feel like I've uncovered a secret with Ibi. This is an awesome tool! I run a personal instance of nextcloud to backup my iphone photos but this tool, while propritary, runs faster backups and it is a piece of cake to run. I LOVE the concept of having a locally-based server for sharing photos with my inner circle. With the ibi tool I can share photos with my family and feel zero reservation that some tech giant may be mining these photos to help me pick out my next pair of sunglasses or something more nefarious. Huge sense of privacy gained by moving my content to this local cloud. Because the ibi product is basically a small 2.5" hd in a minimal case with plenty of airflow, it has the natural problem of a lack of redundancy. The ibi software offers a year of backup-to-the-cloud support for 40$ *per user per year* which seems expensive and it is not for me but it is realitively reasonable for 1-2 TB of backup. I don't know how well this product would perform if I exposed it to the outside of my network. I've invited a family member who doesn't live with us to upload to our ibi and it does not seem to work very well but realistically for this price having the device local and backing up photos on top of icloud or other tools - especially as google photos is changing this year makes great sense.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great idea, but lousy product and even worse tech support.
Nothing but password problems. The unit does not recognize it once entered. Tech support is absolutely worthless. The tech who I talked didn't seem to know anything about the unit.
