About this product

Product Information

A masterful thriller by the author of the #1 "New York Times" bestseller "The Da Vinci Code"When the NSA's invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant, beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage--not by guns or bombs--but by a code so complex that if released would cripple U.S. intelligence. Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in. Betrayed on all sides, she finds herself fighting not only for her country but for her life, and in the end, for the life of the man she loves.

  • E-mail want yours read by the US GOV'T ????

From the man who brought us The Da Vinci Code, well this book is a bit harder to get though. To imagine the NSA having a master computer that reads all the E-mail in the world and is able to crack any code, is that possible? The book make it believable, but then again that is what Dan Brown is good at, and in this book he leads you done that path again. The book is written well and the characters are believable, it has nice twists and turns like his other books, but not quit as polished. I'd recommend this book to people who believe in the theory of "BIG BOTHER is WATCHING", as a conspiracy to cover up the existence of a computer that would possible be able to do it. It is a good novel though and highly recommended as good entertainment. If you thought this to be helpful them please ...

  • Not Dan Brown's Best Work

We like adventure thrillers. Really! I've read some of his other stuff, and it was entertaining, plausible. I had this one figured out before the end of the first CD. It has Soooo much formula stuff in it that it sounds contrived. Brown tries to keep it interesting, but he rolls off the edge with the uncharacteristic lack of security in a top-secret organization, the improbable isolated computer system that can literally have a meltdown, the simple theft of passwords that just wouldn't work in a top-security organization, and on and on and on. I guess if Dan Brown's style turns you on, you could get some entertainment from this. The only reason we finished it (on CD) was because it was all we had in the car on a trip to AR and back. Otherwise, we would have tossed it on the recycle pile ...

  • Dan Brown's Digital Fortress

Digital Fortress relates to possible threats today and is a good thrill ride. This book was published in 1996, Angels and Demons in 2000, Deception Point in 2001 and The Da Vinci Code in 2003. Dan Brown's writing clearly reflects improvment in his more recent books, but even so, Digital Fortress is an exciting ride. I have all four of these books in unabridged audio CD format and have listened to them multiple times. Brown spins good, action packed tales and the two readers of these books, Richard Poe and Paul Michael do a great job with multiple character voices. I recommend this book if you're interested in a digital world kind of thriller, and who couldn't relate today? Only someone who doesn't have a computer, has no experience on one, and perhaps lives in a cave. As I said, it's not ...

  • Bubble Gum

Just finished the book and I'm a bit disappointed. Although an attempt was made to offer suspense and twists and turns, it fell short. Decent enough for someone who doesn't pride themselves in "figuring out" the mystery or for someone who is just escaping a tedious day. I was never perplexed about why something happened or how to figure out the code. Figuring out the "bad guys" was not a problem. It was just too easy. I still love Dan Brown but stick with the others for a more intricately crafted experience.

  • Not as good as his religious series....but a must read!

Not as good as his Angels and Demons/D-Code books, but a must read for any Dan Brown fans. This book is all about the big brother govt' element watching you. The interesting thing is that this book came out way before GW Bush's real Big Brother programs came to be. This book has gained more relevance rather than becoming more obsolete. I highly suggest reading/listening to this book if you are a Brown fan!!
