This four-CD set takes place in Monterey, California, in 1967, I believe. There are EPIC performances of Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jimi Hendrix, and The Who, just to mention a few. I LOVE it! I love this era! I wish I had been old enough to attend! Big Brother performed several songs, ending with Ball and Chain. Actually, they performed twice. Cameras were pointed at the ground the first time they performed, because they were performing free; the group did not want others to make money from a free concert. Because they were SO outstanding and the best set of the day, they were convinced to perform again the next day in front of the cameras. I listened to this three times in one day. This also contains Jimi Hendrix and his set of nine selections (I think). This is the historic concert when Jimi lights his guitar on fire. Jimi announced that since he loves the audience so much, he was going to "sacrifice" something he loves--his guitar. I listened four times in one day. And, The Who performed well (and many others too). Their set ended with a smashed guitar. There is not a bad performance in this entire CD set.Read full review

Great compilation from the 1967 Monterrey Pop Festival. Features many performances not in the movie. How many remember that Lou Rawls played there?
